MSA and Sherbiny announce Saudi Arabia gas monitor partnership

MSA Safety has entered a strategic partnership with Saudi Arabia-based manufacturer Sherbiny to locally assemble its General Monitors S5000 Gas Monitors. Production will take place at Sherbiny’s Al-Khobar facility, which has received approval from Saudi Aramco under the In-Kingdom Total Value Add (IKTVA) programme. This initiative aligns with MSA’s Accelerate strategy to expand its global detection business while enhancing regional service capabilities.

The local assembly of the S5000 units is expected to significantly shorten delivery times and improve technical support and service quality for customers in Saudi Arabia and the broader Middle East. MSA International President Dave Howells highlighted that the partnership enables faster product availability, improved support, and stronger customer service. He also noted that MSA plans to expand its service and training teams in Saudi Arabia to support the increased production.

Sherbiny’s CEO, Majed Sherbiny, emphasized that the collaboration supports Saudi Vision 2030 by bolstering local manufacturing capacity. He expressed pride in Sherbiny’s long-standing relationship with Saudi Aramco and underscored the company’s commitment to customer satisfaction and national development goals. The agreement marks the beginning of what both companies see as a broader effort to localize more manufacturing in the future.

The S5000 Gas Monitor features MSA’s proprietary XCell hydrogen sulphide sensor with TruCal technology, which enhances accuracy and reduces maintenance requirements. It also serves as a high-performance replacement for earlier hydrogen sulphide detectors, offering improved reliability in demanding environments.

This partnership represents a key step in MSA’s regional expansion plans and reinforces its commitment to supporting infrastructure development and workplace safety throughout Saudi Arabia, in alignment with Aramco’s IKTVA initiative and the country’s Vision 2030 program.
