Teledyne Launches FREEDOM Gas Detectors

Teledyne Gas and Flame Detection has launched its new FREEDOM series of gas detectors, featuring hot-swappable components and Bluetooth-enabled tools for configuration, calibration and maintenance.

The range comprises three models: FREEDOM GP, FREEDOM XP and FREEDOM Xi. Designed for industrial applications across the oil and gas, utilities, water treatment and laboratory sectors, the detectors share a common electronic architecture aimed at simplifying servicing, standardising components and reducing total cost of ownership.

A key feature of the FREEDOM series is its ability to replace detector cartridges while the equipment remains powered in hazardous areas, according to Teledyne. This capability is designed to minimise maintenance-related downtime, improve operational continuity and simplify routine servicing.

The FREEDOM XP is engineered for explosive atmospheres and meets functional safety requirements, including SIL 2/SC 3 High Demand certification. The FREEDOM Xi is designed to operate in harsh industrial environments, supporting gas detection requirements in demanding operating conditions.

The series also integrates with Teledyne Gas and Flame SYNC (GF Sync), a Bluetooth-enabled mobile application that enables users to configure, calibrate and diagnose detectors. The application can automatically generate certificates, helping operators streamline compliance documentation and maintain accurate service records.

For improved visibility, the detectors feature multicolour displays and peripheral LEDs that indicate normal operating conditions, faults and alarms. These visual indicators help personnel assess equipment status quickly and identify potential issues during routine inspections.

According to Teledyne Gas and Flame Detection, the FREEDOM series has been developed to simplify gas detector maintenance, improve serviceability and reduce costs throughout the equipment’s operational lifecycle. The combination of hot-swappable components, digital maintenance tools and a common electronic platform is intended to support more efficient gas detection management across industrial facilities.
