Genetec has added new investigation capabilities to its Security Center SaaS platform, introducing intelligent automation designed to significantly reduce the time operators spend searching through video evidence. The enhancements will be showcased at GSX 2025 in New Orleans (Booth 1561) and will be available to all users starting September 29.
Traditionally, investigations have required lengthy video reviews and the use of multiple tools. With this update, Genetec consolidates those workflows into a single interface, enabling operators to quickly search live and recorded footage for people, vehicles, or objects using natural language queries and filters. The system enriches searches with contextual insights, such as surrounding activity, pre- and post-incident events, and the ability to identify individuals with similar appearances. This reduces guesswork about which camera streams to review and accelerates case building.
Built on an open architecture, Security Center SaaS leverages metadata from a wide variety of cameras and devices across multi-site and multi-vendor environments, delivering more precise and relevant search results. The new features include intelligent search, which allows investigations to launch directly from the video player by selecting a person, vehicle, or object; nearby activity, which surfaces movements close to an incident within a defined timeframe; entry and exit detection, which identifies when a subject enters or leaves a scene; and similarity detection, which helps locate individuals with matching appearances across different systems.
According to Genetec, the new tools will help operators review, export, and share evidence more efficiently while maintaining robust traceability and privacy safeguards. “Security professionals are often under pressure to quickly analyze large volumes of video and data, especially following critical incidents,” said Jonathan Doyon, Senior Product Group Director at Genetec Inc. “Our new intelligent search gives investigation teams a faster, more intuitive way to uncover relevant evidence, build timelines, and share results securely — all from a unified interface. With these enhancements, Security Center SaaS delivers a context-aware investigation experience that helps operators quickly understand what happened and act with confidence.”
