USB real-time spectrum analyzers conquer HamRadio Aaronia inspires the community

From June 27 to 29, 2025, 11,600 radio enthusiasts from 52 countries flocked to Friedrichshafen for HamRadio to discover the latest technology trends and exchange ideas in person. For Aaronia AG, it was the ideal platform to present its high-end real-time spectrum analyzers for amateur radio operators and developers.

As Europe’s largest amateur radio trade fair, HamRadio is the meeting place for the amateur radio community. For Thorsten Chmielus, Managing Director of Aaronia AG, the exchange with visitors is a highlight every year. “In conversations with users and developers, we learn what they expect from our products, what features they want, and we get unfiltered feedback on existing products. It couldn’t be better, and you don’t get the impression that you’re talking to so-called amateurs. We benefit from this dedicated community by often receiving crucial suggestions for improvements or hints for market-driven enhancements. All this information is carefully analyzed in-house and, where appropriate, incorporated into product development.”

The focus was on the USB-based real-time spectrum analyzer SPECTRAN® V6 ECO with a real-time bandwidth (RTBW) of 44MHz and an extended frequency range from 9kHz to 6GHz. The device bridges the gap between affordable but low-performance SDRs and expensive, high-performance high-end analyzers. With its unique, patented high-speed tictoc LO function, the analyzer achieves a sweep speed of up to 3 THz/s – a world first.

The SPECTRAN® V6 ECO is connected to a PC or laptop with just a USB cable: power is supplied via USB PD through the same USB port. Every Aaronia real-time spectrum analyzer comes with the powerful RTSA Suite PRO for signal recording and data analysis. Among other things, the software offers simultaneous display of multiple signal visualizations, including recording and playback of the full IQ bandwidth. To run the software, you need at least 2 GB of RAM, a quad-core processor with a clock speed of 1.6 GHz and AVX2 support, and Windows 10. Of course, the RTSA Suite PRO is also available for the Linux operating system.

“HamRadio is the ideal place to present our powerful real-time spectrum analyzers to a technically knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and interested audience,” says Peter May, Technical Director of Measurement Technology at Aaronia AG. “The intensive exchange with visitors and the in-depth technical discussions we always have at HamRadio are something special.”
