ImageDeep Launches Houndlight AI Security Unit

ImageDeep has launched Houndlight, a solar-powered, 4G-connected AI security unit designed to protect remote sites without mains electricity, Wi-Fi or complex cabling.

The device is designed for use across construction sites, farms, quarries, equipment yards, solar farms and telecommunications infrastructure, where traditional security systems can be difficult or costly to deploy.

Houndlight uses on-device artificial intelligence (AI) to detect people and vehicles, both day and night. When it identifies a potential intrusion, the unit automatically activates a light beacon, siren and voice warning to deter intruders.

Users receive security alerts directly on their phones, with optional 24/7 human-verified monitoring available through ImageDeep’s Vigil security platform. The unit can be mounted on a pole, wall or temporary post, making it suitable for sites where security requirements and layouts frequently change.

According to ImageDeep, Houndlight can operate for days without mains power and can be installed within hours. The system is designed to address security vulnerabilities at remote locations where conventional CCTV infrastructure, reliable connectivity or overnight security guards may be impractical.

“Most site theft happens where there is no power, no internet and nobody watching,” said Niall Dorr, founder of ImageDeep. “Houndlight brings the AI we built for large contractors to any gate, yard or field. It sees the intruder, warns them off and tells you, all from a unit you can put up in an afternoon.”

With its combination of solar power, 4G connectivity, AI-powered detection and active deterrence, Houndlight offers an alternative approach to securing remote and temporary sites without relying on traditional surveillance infrastructure.
