The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has announced that the Association for Colorado Inspectors has officially become an Electrical Inspection Section (EIS) Affiliate Chapter. This new affiliation is intended to strengthen support for electrical inspection professionals across Colorado through access to training, educational materials, and networking opportunities.
As part of NFPA’s broader EIS Affiliate Chapter network, the Colorado group joins a nationwide effort to enhance code enforcement by collaborating with local associations. It becomes the fourth chapter to join the programme, alongside counterparts in Ohio, North Carolina, and Kentucky.
The chapter will assist electrical inspectors in applying NFPA 70, the National Electrical Code (NEC), and related safety standards. NFPA regional electrical specialist Tim McClintock welcomed the new chapter, noting that it allows NFPA and Colorado’s inspection community to work together on emerging electrical safety issues. He emphasised the chapter’s role in supporting professionals who are tasked with interpreting and applying NEC requirements in their daily work.
Inspectors in Colorado who become chapter members may also be eligible to join the NFPA Electrical Inspection Section. This membership includes benefits such as involvement in the NEC code development process, updates on code changes, access to inspection-specific tools and services, and opportunities to attend related industry events.
Tom Blevins, president of the Association for Colorado Inspectors, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, highlighting the chapter’s commitment to addressing modern electrical safety challenges and preparing for future needs.
This initiative aligns with NFPA’s ongoing expansion of its regional presence, which includes the addition of new electrical specialist roles aimed at improving national support for inspection professionals.
