MSA Safety has introduced an updated version of its GALLET F1 XF structural firefighting helmet, incorporating improvements to lighting, fit, eye and face protection, and firefighter comfort.
The latest version builds on more than four decades of development of the GALLET F1 platform, which has been used by firefighters worldwide. Designed for structural firefighting, the modular helmet can be configured for different operational requirements.
Improved fit and adjustment
One of the key updates is a new ratchet handwheel designed to make helmet adjustment easier while firefighters are wearing gloves.
The nape wool/aramid neck curtain has also been redesigned. A new pass-through slot provides access to the adjustment mechanism, while colour-coded clips are intended to simplify attachment and removal during cleaning and maintenance.
The chin strap has been redesigned to improve grip and adjustment, particularly when wearing protective gloves. An optional removable and washable crown pad is also available through a new Cleaning Care Kit, supporting easier helmet maintenance and hygiene.
Upgraded firefighter lighting
The helmet’s lighting system has also been enhanced with the new L1XF lighting module.
The module provides standard and boost operating modes, with the boost setting delivering up to 120 lumens. MSA has redesigned the light switch to make activation and beam selection easier during firefighting operations, where visibility and rapid equipment control can be critical.
Enhanced eye and face protection
Eye and face protection has been upgraded with certification to EN 14458:2018, a European standard covering high-performance visors used with protective helmets.
MSA has also upgraded the helmet’s metallised face shield, with improvements intended to increase light transmission in low-light environments while maintaining protection.
Modular protection platform
The GALLET F1 XF is designed as a modular structural firefighting helmet, allowing accessories and configurations to be adapted to different operational requirements.
The latest upgrades focus on several areas of firefighter equipment performance, including ergonomics, visibility, protection, adjustment and maintenance.
By combining improved lighting, updated face protection and easier adjustment with its modular design, the updated GALLET F1 XF is intended to provide firefighters with a more adaptable protective helmet for demanding structural firefighting environments.
