Blackline Safety’s EXO 8 Wins 2025 Firehouse Innovation Award for Advancing Real-Time Area Monitoring

Blackline Safety has announced that its EXO 8 area monitor has received the 2025 Firehouse Innovation Award, marking the eighth major honour for the device this year.

The Firehouse Innovation Awards celebrate the most advanced technologies supporting firefighting and emergency response operations.

“Receiving our eighth award this year is a powerful validation of the EXO 8’s impact,” said Cody Slater, CEO and Chair of Blackline Safety. “This device is reshaping expectations for area monitoring—connecting responders and industrial teams to critical, real-time data that empowers faster and safer decision-making when it matters most.”

The EXO 8 stands out as the only portable area monitor that integrates gas and gamma radiation detection in a single connected unit. It streams live data to the cloud, giving emergency response teams immediate situational awareness in high-risk environments.

Additionally, Blackline Safety has rolled out an update to the EXO 8 analytics report on its Blackline Live platform, enhancing real-time visibility of devices, personnel, and overall safety across worksites.

“Firefighters and first responders risk everything to protect others,” Slater added. “At Blackline, we believe they deserve the same protection in return. With EXO’s real-time monitoring and advanced data capabilities, we give them the visibility, confidence, and connection they need to return home safely every day.”
