Pye-Barker Fire & Safety has completed its acquisition of Modern Systems, a Kentucky-based alarm and security company with more than 45 years of experience. The deal broadens Pye-Barker’s fire protection and life safety coverage in the state, adding new capabilities for communities across Kentucky.
Modern Systems was founded in 1979 by David Morris, who continues to serve as president. Over the decades, the company has built a reputation for delivering customized security and fire solutions, including alarms, intrusion detection, video surveillance, access control, and license plate recognition systems. Its services are supported by AI-driven analytics, 24/7 monitoring, and ongoing inspection and maintenance designed to safeguard lives and property.
David Morris described the acquisition as a milestone that aligns with the company’s mission to expand safety in Kentucky. He said working with Pye-Barker will strengthen what Modern Systems has built, pointing to Pye-Barker’s commitment to innovation, community safety, and strong workplace culture.
Pye-Barker CEO Bart Proctor said the addition of Modern Systems reinforces the company’s drive to enhance security and fire protection nationwide. He noted that Modern Systems has been at the forefront of adopting new technologies for decades, and integrating the team will accelerate further innovation across the sector.
The company confirmed that Modern Systems will continue operating with its existing staff in place, ensuring uninterrupted service for customers. Legal representation in the transaction was provided by Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP.
