AFEX introduces compact fire suppression system for small mobile equipment

AFEX Fire Suppression Systems has launched a compact liquid fire suppression system designed specifically for small machines with limited installation space, such as those used in underground mining, forestry, recycling, and transportation.

As reported by AFEX Fire Suppression Systems, the system provides fire protection for equipment operators by offering effective fire control options for compact machines where larger systems are impractical.

This new addition to AFEX’s product line includes flexible installation capabilities, allowing the tank to be mounted in any orientation—vertical, horizontal, or angled—accommodating the unique space limitations of smaller machinery.

Additionally, the compact system includes a specially sized Compact Panel, which alerts operators to fires for prompt evacuation in emergency situations.

Enhanced fire mitigation for confined spaces

With operator safety in mind, AFEX’s compact liquid system addresses fire risks on machinery of all sizes.

The system remains non-pressurized until activated by fire detection, thereby minimizing potential leakage issues.

When a fire is detected, a nitrogen cartridge quickly pressurizes the tank, releasing the suppression agent through a distribution network to control the blaze.

The system also features SAFE-X, a fluorine-free liquid agent certified under AS 5062:2022.

This agent is specifically formulated to cool hot surfaces rapidly and prevent fire reignition, providing reliable fire suppression that aligns with contemporary environmental standards.

Flexibility and operator safety in compact design

The compact design allows for the system to be used across diverse industries where space constraints pose installation challenges.

The Compact Panel is designed for small cab spaces and alerts the operator immediately in case of a fire, enabling quick response and safe machine evacuation.

Rod Cavallaro, President of AFEX Fire Suppression Systems, expressed satisfaction with the new product launch, saying: “We’re pleased to introduce this new compact liquid system to address the specific needs of our customers who operate compact machinery in demanding environments.

“Our team has worked hard to develop, test, and manufacture a solution that lives up to our high standards for reliability and robustness.

“This tank certainly exemplifies our commitment to delivering a superior fire suppression system for heavy equipment – no matter the size.”

Availability through distribution networks

The compact liquid fire suppression system is now available for order through AFEX’s distributor network.

This release builds on AFEX’s established reputation in providing fire safety solutions for mobile heavy-duty equipment.

By expanding its product line to include systems for smaller machinery, AFEX aims to support a broader range of equipment operators who require specialized fire protection.

AFEX introduces compact fire suppression system for small mobile equipment: Summary

AFEX Fire Suppression Systems has launched a compact liquid fire suppression system tailored to small-scale machinery with limited installation space, including skid steer loaders and forklifts.

The tank offers flexible installation options to suit varying machine configurations and incorporates a Compact Panel for fire alerts, enhancing operator safety.

The system, which uses the fluorine-free SAFE-X agent, remains non-pressurized until fire detection, reducing leak risks.

Once triggered, nitrogen pressurizes the tank, distributing the suppression agent.

AFEX President Rod Cavallaro highlighted the system’s role in addressing the unique needs of compact machinery in industries like mining, recycling, and forestry.

The product is now available through AFEX’s distributor network.
