SHARJAH SET TO BUILD FIRE-PROOF BUILDINGS

An initiative is underway in Sharjah aimed at enhancing fire safety in buildings prone to fires.

The Fire-Safe Building Project, initiated by the Sharjah Municipality, involves replacing the facades of 40 buildings with fire-resistant cladding to mitigate fire risks.

Already, five buildings in Sharjah have undergone facade replacement as part of the project, with fire-resistant materials installed to bolster safety measures.

Announced last year by the Ruler of Sharjah, this Dh100 million project is the first of its kind, with the government covering the entire cost to upgrade existing buildings to meet fire safety standards.

By prioritising buildings deemed to have facades prone to fire, the initiative aims to protect residents from potential fire hazards.
