Blighter has announced the deployment of a network of surveillance radars and its BlighterNexus software to protect offshore oil platforms and onshore refineries in West Africa, highlighting the growing importance of integrated surveillance in safeguarding critical energy infrastructure.
The British radar manufacturer says the system is designed to strengthen site security against piracy and other potential threats by combining radar-based detection and tracking with centralised surveillance management.
Blighter’s electronic-scanning radars can detect and track people, vehicles and small vessels across land and coastal approaches. The technology also supports the detection of low-flying drones, providing an additional layer of surveillance around sensitive energy facilities.
The deployment comes as Blighter showcases its surveillance technologies and latest BlighterNexus software enhancements at Milipol Qatar 2026, held in Doha from 20 to 22 October.
BlighterNexus enables customers and systems integrators to configure, manage and operate radar networks through a single secure, web-based interface. The platform can also integrate radar data with cameras and other security systems, helping operators develop a more coordinated view of activity around protected sites.
At Milipol Qatar, Blighter is highlighting the application of its technologies in border and coastal surveillance, alongside the protection of critical infrastructure, including energy facilities, airports and ports.
The West African deployment underscores the role of networked radar systems and integrated security platforms in improving situational awareness and supporting the protection of strategically important oil and gas assets.
