ASSA ABLOY Integrates US and UK Access Control Companies into HID Global

ASSA ABLOY, the Stockholm-based multinational specializing in doors and access solutions, has announced its acquisition of U.S.-based 3millID Corporation and UK-based Third Millennium Systems Ltd. The two companies, long-time commercial partners since 2015, will be integrated into HID Global’s Physical Access Control Solutions Business Area.

3millID, based in Colorado, provides proprietary access control readers and credential products for the North American market, while Third Millennium, headquartered in Wales, specializes in biometric access control software for enterprise and government sectors across the UK and Europe.

“These acquisitions bring exciting technological additions that reinforce our physical access control offerings and open complementary growth opportunities,” said Nico Delvaux, President and CEO of ASSA ABLOY.

Björn Lidefelt, Executive Vice President of HID, emphasized the importance of the move, stating, “This demonstrates our commitment to investing in core access control technologies while enhancing our presence internationally. It also provides our customers with increased choice and relevance within our portfolio.”

Together, the two companies reported $21 million in sales with positive EBITDA margins in 2023. The deal is expected to close in Q1 2025, subject to customary closing conditions.

This acquisition continues ASSA ABLOY’s active expansion strategy, following recent purchases of Norshield Security Products, Roger, 9Solutions, and Premier Steel Doors and Frames in December 2024.
