Reacton Fire Suppression Ltd has been awarded the prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category, placing it among just 52 organisations across the United Kingdom recognised in 2026.
The King’s Awards for Enterprise are widely regarded as the highest official honours for British businesses, celebrating 60 years of excellence in innovation, international trade, and entrepreneurship. As part of the recognition, Reacton CEO Sam Malins is set to attend an official ceremony at St James’s Palace, where he will meet King Charles III.
The award highlights Reacton’s British-engineered fire suppression systems, which safeguard billions of pounds’ worth of assets across global industries. These systems are designed to automatically detect and suppress fires at the source, reducing risk in high-value and high-risk environments.
At the core of the technology is a proprietary pneumatic detection tube filled with nitrogen. When exposed to heat or flame, the tube ruptures, triggering immediate release of the extinguishing agent without requiring external power. This power-independent mechanism is especially valuable in environments where electrical systems may fail.
Reacton’s systems also integrate electronic linear detection technology, enabling deployment across a wide range of applications — from heavy machinery and bus engines to electrical control panels and CNC equipment.
The King’s Award further recognised the company’s dual-agent suppression system, which combines dry powder for rapid flame knockdown with wet chemical agents that cool surfaces and reduce the risk of re-ignition. This dual approach delivers faster and more comprehensive fire suppression than traditional single-agent systems.
For sensitive environments, Reacton offers clean-agent solutions using fluorinated ketones, which extinguish fires without leaving residue, making them suitable for occupied spaces and precision equipment settings.
Another standout innovation is its “one valve fits all” design philosophy. A single valve system can be adapted to protect equipment ranging from small electrical cabinets to 400-tonne mining machinery, with only cylinder size and agent volume adjusted. This simplifies installation while improving system reliability.
Reacton CEO Sam Malins commented: “This recognition reflects the dedication and expertise of our entire team. We’ve always believed that even in the face of challenges, there is a solution – you just have to go and find it.”
